About this opportunity
Today, Ericsson owns one of the ICT industry's most valuable portfolio of patents. The global patent portfolio consists of 60,000 granted patents within the areas of cellular technology, consumer electronics, cloud, networks and beyond. Ericsson’s Patent Creation Management is part of the global Ericsson GFGS IPR & Licensing Organization and is responsible for all inventions originating from all Ericsson R&D sites all over the world.
We are now expanding one of our teams in Sweden (Stockholm,) and are looking for a motivated patent attorney (preferably qualified or partly qualified) looking to contribute to one of the industry’s largest patent portfolios. You will work for a company that is dedicated to research and innovation, leading the development of cellular technology including 5G, 6G and beyond.
What you will do
• Provide IPR support for Ericsson’s R&D operations wherein you will work closely with inventors and innovative technology in the area of Radio Access Networks (RAN). In this role you will in particular focus on building a world class patent portfolio related to RAN implementation and RAN interface standardisation.
• Handling inventions in all stages from R&D project support, patent application filing and prosecution, and coordination of national filings up to grant in close cooperation with R&D, other patent professionals, and patent offices all over the world.
• Evaluate inventions and take value-based filing and prosecution actions including the drafting of claim charts.
• Participating in key projects supporting licensing and litigation and participating in technical discussions.
• Collaborate and communicate with domestic and foreign outside counsel.
• Depending on your qualification and interest you will engage in patent portfolio management, oppositions and/or nullity actions to contribute to the value creation from our patents.
• Engage in working groups and projects to improve operations and strategies.
You will bring
• A degree in Engineering, Physics, Computer Sciences, Electrical Engineering or equivalent providing a strong technical foundation.
• Proven experience in patents such as Patent Attorney Qualification (also partly qualified) or working as a patent examiner or patent engineer.
• A keen interest in technical, business and legal matters. Previous experience as an inventor, working with RAN implementation or understanding of telecommunication technologies will be an advantage.
• Analytical thinking and an eye for detail, paired with a solution-oriented approach.
• Adaptability in various situations and collaborative teamwork, with skills in coordination and communication.
• The ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and activities as a team member. At Ericsson, we have a hybrid working environment which allows for flexibility to work remotely but also comes with an expectance to be in the office at least part of each week to meet colleagues in person.
• The people skills required to work with a diverse group of engineers, patent professionals, and paralegals located around the globe.
• The motivation to learn and improve internal processes and tools.
• AI tools experience such as AI-based drafting skills are a plus.
• Proficiency in English
