About this opportunity

Would you like to join our cross-functional team as a Digital Radio Algorithm Developer at Ericsson and contribute to cutting-edge signal processing algorithms for 5G and 6G radios?

When developing radios, Ericsson always strives for the best radio performance on the market, but also the lowest cost and power consumption. With the immense computational power available today, the right answer to this design problem is often to make a low power-and-cost analog radio design and to then correct its shortcomings with digital signal processing. Our team specializes in algorithms that compensate for such imperfections in radio receivers, particularly for high-performance Analog to Digital Converters (ADCs). These algorithms are implemented in combinations of custom ASIC hardware and embedded software.

If you would like a role that is both broad and deep, where work is often research-like and ranges from deep theoretical analysis to practical lab work, then this could be the perfect fit for you. The position is placed at Lindholmen, Göteborg and involves daily collaboration with Ericsson teams in Sweden, Canada and China.

What you will do

  • Explore, develop, simulate, optimize and tune digital signal processing algorithms for radio receivers
  • Collaborate with ASIC and Software designers to implement the algorithms in ASICs and radio products
  • Algorithm simulator programming
  • Through measurements and analysis, you will validate and characterize the algorithms, ASIC’s and Software to guide future development.
  • Keep educating and updating yourself on the subjects above; we work in a very dynamic field of technology.

The skills you bring

  •  An MSc or PhD in Wireless Communication, Signal Processing, Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, Mathematics or related fields
  • Solid technical skills in Statistical Signal Processing, Discrete Time Systems, Linear Algebra, Non-linear modelling, Optimization, Communications Theory and possibly Control Theory
  • Proficiency in programming, particularly with MATLAB (C, C++, VHDL, Verilog & Python are also valuable)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and preferably Swedish
  • Self-confidence and a can-do-attitude. You should like to create new things out of your imagination and to work your way through complex problems
  • A humble willingness to learn, teach, coach and listen

In addition, we like you have:

  • Understanding of Digital ASIC design with RTL and implementation aspects such as area, power consumption, fixed point numbers, polyphase techniques, clocking etc. Ability and willingness to do RTL design and verification
  • Knowledge of high-performance RF ADC’s
  • Practical lab work ability including RF measurements and test automation
  • Proficiency in using Linux and Windows computer systems. Ability to solve everyday problems and write scripts as needed
  • Analog /RF ASIC design experience
  • Knowledge of real-time embedded systems design
  • Experience with source code version control using GIT and Gerrit or similar
  • Understanding of mobile communication standards (i.e. 3GPP)
