The Engineering Unit working with Cloud RAN within Business Unit Networks seeks to work closely with our customers, passionate about the delivery of virtualized Radio Access Network (RAN) solutions. We work with: 

• Full stack virtualization of the 5G New Radio (NR) Digital Unit (DU).
• Centralized Radio Access Network (CRAN) and distributed Radio Access Network (DRAN) configurations.
• COTS HW including L1 accelerators where needed.
• Cloud Native infrastructure and open interfaces (e.g F1, X2/Xn, A1, 01, LLS…).
• Architecture for automation, AI and machine learning.

We challenge conventional product development with fresh thinking, contribute to open-source communities, and actively prepare for the next wave of innovation—6G. We are also preparing to be actively engaged in next generation technology for future evolvement.

We are now looking for an experienced L2 Cloud RAN Software Developer that will join our exceptional team in Lund and work with the 5G RAN L2 SW including production code to be deployed on x86 architecture, test infrastructure and troubleshooting, and much, much more!

What you will do

Be actively engaged in implementation of NR Layer two functions running on the Virtual DU side, in particular:

• Software development for Cloud Native baseband products for our vDU.
• Be able to deliver scalability, resilience and performance by taking full advantage of the evolving architecture and services inherent to a Cloud Native Platform.
• Strive for delivery of product and test code that takes advantages of a DevOps infrastructure.
• Foster systematization and implementation that enable rapid feature parity in a Stand Alone and Hybrid network environment.

The skills you bring

• MSc or higher degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• 5+ years of experience in C/C++ software development for embedded or real-time systems
• Proven expertise in Layer 2 protocol stack design and implementation for LTE/NR (3GPP)
• Strong experience working in agile, cross-functional teams in international environments
• Solid grasp of Cloud Native technologies, including Kubernetes, Docker, Helm, and service meshes
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Git, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins, Spinnaker)
• A collaborative and proactive mindset with strong problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and leadership capabilities

Additional qualifications and experience that we value

• Experience working with Cloud Native core design principles – microservices, containers, pods, master/worker nodes.
• Experience developing through the Cloud Native Development Pipeline and software content management principles and tools – CI/CD (DevOps), git, Gerrit, GitHub, Jenkins, Spinnaker.
• Understanding of LTE & NR 3GPP specifications, especially in the area of Layer two is a plus.
• Exposure to public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Familiarity with Nvidia toolchain, CUDA, or low-level kernel optimization.
• Contributions to open-source projects.
• Knowledge of 6G research topics or early prototyping.
